The luffing rope is not shown. This is a shame because it would be interesting to see how the booms stretch.

Also there is a ladder on the auxiliary boom which has no handrail & doesn't seem to be going anywhere important.

I would suggest that you finish a drawing before you check it. You haven't done either. But then again it is BMH!

Dear Mr Gateley

On the auxiliary boom there is no ladder. The structure is a guide rail. On the end of of the auxiliary

boom there are wheels which will run on the guide rail.

Both booms are pinned together. They are also pinned against the portals. When you lift the inner pin you shove the outer pins apart & pull them in later.

Do you have a secret weapon?

Hello,

Some time, particular material can be reclaimed by bucket wheel reclaimer (bucket wheel on boom or bridge) or by scraper reclaimer machine. The machine buyer can opt for anyone type considering following aspects:

1) Required degree of homogenisation (blending), if applicable.

2) Capacity range for each type, and in this context whether one has freedom to choose anyone.

3) Initial cost (mechanical, structural, civil)

4) Operation cost (wear, tear, repair, etc.)

Buyer can opt for any one type considering economy (if both types are suitable for particular material). The economy should also take into consideration the machine life.

The general beliefs are:

- Bucket wheel on bridge or boom is heavier and sturdier machine. Its capacity range is likely to be more.

- Scraper reclaimer machine will have better blending as it is simultaneously reclaiming along line (boom length) as against point reclaiming by bucket wheel.

- One can obtain quotation for both types and opt for machine which is economical and suitable.

I read with interest your post

You may help me to understand if the "old Louise" technology still applies to stockpiles and if it may be competitive (long- and middle term)

Louise machines never were designed to operate under open stockpiles.

There is a longitudinal slot between sloping floors & this encourages flooding in the gallery below.
