For single stage primary crushing of bauxite from 850MM size to (-)150mm size, which is preferable - a high speed double roll impact toothed crusher or a low speed high torque primary sizer?

The crusher/ sizer is to be mounted on a semi mobile crushing plant - thus the reduction shall be single stage only.

I would vote for the sizer.

Bauxite is a relatively elasto-plastic material. High impact may absorb a lot of energy from the impact that deforms but does not break, takes multiple hits to eventually break or is not energy efficient with significant deformation before breakage.

Low speed, high torque sizers may be more efficient due to the nature of particle breakage through low speed positive displacement shear tearing action verses repeated impact of some particles with plastic deformation before eventual breakage.

I Vote For Sizer Too

sizer is more effective than crusher especially applied in the bauxite industry. There are some examples in China, some alumina factory had replaced the crusher by sizers, and the effect is good.

But you should notice that the abrasion of the teeth of sizers. Beacause the bauxite is a wearable material than coal or the other material, that is a key point you should consider when you choose what brand of sizers.

I am not being bias because we Manufacture Sizers, however, I would go the Sizer way also, if you would like a spec on this application please feel free to contact myself.

I also agree a sizer would be the better option. However as Bauxite is abrasive in nature it would be reuire a relatively low speed and therefore the sizer may be of larger diameter than the ones used for conventionl material suxh as Coal, Limestone e.t.c.

reduction ratio(ratio = 850 mm /150 mm) is more than 5, its advisable to take Horizontal shaft impact crusher (low speed) or even jaw crusher 48"X42" with nominal feed size : 875 mm ) can provide you the solution.but please clarify

1) what is Crushing capacity (in TPH).

2) feed and Product gradation required?

3) Abrasion index of feed material.

Thank you for vindicating my statement, there is no reason a spokane could not be slowed down to do this.

Hi,

Durind the order of a crusher what should we inform the manufacturer about other than;

Type of Material:

Feed Size and Gradiation:

Capacity Needed:

Percent Moisture:

Product Size Desired:

Hardness:

By the way, should i use "Mohs Scale Hardness" or anything else?

Regards.
