Use A Vibrating Screen Stroke Check Card

SEE ATTACHED CARD. it is magnetic, put on while screen is operating. I like to TAPE a piece of white paper to do pencil strokes...to file at time of test.

PUT on all 4 corners and at the centre above the shaft on each side. Do the following:

1. get a nice sharp pencil, hold nice and straight parallel to the paper and touch ever so slightly to paper then TAKE RIGHT OFF QUICKLY.

2. if a horizontal type screen, you will or should get a STRAIGHT LINE showing up at a 45 degree angle typically (from 0 deg horizontal)

3. now, you meassure the length of the line....should be +- 1/2" long....or whatever was built into the shaft as an OFFSET stroke.

4. so we measure TIP TO TIP on the line = stroke length

5. if a circle throw screen, we measure outside edge to edge = circle size

6. on the horizontal....the angle will IDENTIFY the timing angle we are stroking at

(normal 45 degree means we are moving down the deck from feed end to discharge end of the screen box) if too straight up and down...we are going up and down but, not travelling from feed end to discharge end and that must be changed...with help of factory if known.

7. then, take an RPM CHECK of screen box for G FORCES.....should be =- 800RPM

* THIS magnetic stroke card can just be looked at with no paper to see the stroke but, not log the stroke into a file. i like to log into file, because it confirms what the stroke was on THAT DAY. and if someone adds big heavy plate liners (decreases the stroke length) or lets belts stretch (decreases RPM) i WILL know it changed from when it was working good and figure out why....IF NO FILE = NO REFERENCE POINT.

hoping this helps....."Stroking thru life happily" GEORGE - Moderator
