Pelletron Introduces New OS and RC DeDuster® Series (patent pending)

Pelletron has developed two new DeDuster® types. These new designs were introduced for the first time at the K-Show 2010. Pelletron's proven DeDusting systems are used in the bulk handling industry for cleaning of granular products such as plastics pellets, regrind, minerals, tablets and others. Pelletron DeDuster® systems reduce the scrap rate and increase profitability by removing dust, streamers, and other contaminants prior to injection molding, extrusion, drying and packaging. The small size DeDuster®, installed on any IMM, eliminates black spots, white spots, and blurry surfaces from the product.

OS Series DeDuster® Systems

Traditional DeDuster® designs require the product inlet and outlet to be in a straight line. While this design remains an effective portion of the Pelletron product line, the constant need to respond to changing processing conditions led to the design of the OS DeDuster® series. The OS DeDuster® series offers an offset inlet and outlet connection, for installation in existing angled silo outlet pipes, without changing the pipe geometry. The design principle of OS DeDuster® series uses the proven cleaning technology while incorporating a single elongated wash deck. Eliminating the secondary wash deck greatly reduces stack-up height while maintaining the cleaning efficiency that made Pelletron Corporation the industry leader (see Fig. 1)

RC Series DeDuster® Systems

Market demands were the driving factor for the development of the new RC DeDuster®. The new RC DeDuster® series is designed as a round model, using the proven cleaning principle of the previous DeDuster® types. The product flows into an adjustable inlet funnel of the DeDuster®. The adjustable inlet funnel regulates and distributes the product evenly to the central conical wash deck, also called CentraCone™. A high-efficiency fan generates an air stream. The air stream travels through holes and slots in the wash deck to create an efficient dust removal wash air stream. Streamers and angel hair are removed in the circular Venturi zone, surrounding the wash deck. The dust particles and streamers are pulled in a cyclone or dust collector by an exhaust fan. In the cyclone or dust collector, dust particles and streamers are separated from the air stream and clean air is returned to the DeDuster®.

RC DeDuster® series design principle changes, including the central conical wash deck and round body, virtually eliminate product carryover while maintaining industry leading cleaning efficiency. The new RC DeDuster® series requires minimal installation height and is available in various sizes. Small units are designed for installation on the inlet of injection molding machines, while larger units are available for use on extruders and under loading silos (see Fig. 2).
