My client seeks a degreed Project Engineer who will manage the procurement of materials and services in the completion of large scale projects at Coal powered utility plants. This position is located in the western suburbs of Chicago and will be part of a small, long established (since 1983)and rapidly growing company that serves the Electric Power Generation Industry. This position offers an opportunity to apply your professional skills and education at a key supplier to an essential industry, Power Generation, while being employed in a small, professionally managed and growing company. This position is based in an office environment and will require travel to customer sites.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager and supervises a project coordinator purchasing personnel in the Chicago office.

Key Duties and Accountabilities:

Acts a a team member with Engineering and product management to determine procedures, priorities and scheduling of staff

Manages the construction/fabrication budget and procures components and services within budgeted levels

Responsible for customer contact concerning project scheduling and coordination of outages related to construction plans

Works directly with the Fabrication Supervisor of each project to ensure on-time delivery and quality control for fabrication

Performs design verification on new systems

REQUIREMENTS

Batchelor's degree preferably in a Technical discipline

A minimum of (5) years of purchasing experience that includes at least 3 years of direct supervision of project coordination and purchasing staff

10 years or more of budgeting, scheduling, procurement, fabrication and construction experience both on and off the customer site.

Candidates must be able to drive a motor vehicle to customer sites, use and operate general test and measurement instruments and maintenance tools, personal computer software, (Excel, Word, MS Project). On occasion this position will require the candidate to climb ladders and work in tight quarters.
