Couplings for ash slurry piping

Generally ash slurry pipes are provided with couplings to take care of thermal expansion and a small degree of slope. However these coupligs are prone to theft . Further these pipelines pass through villages and any leakage through couplings cause serious pollution problems. Hence there is a tendency to weld pipes over long distances even upto 10 Km.

Can we weld long distance pipelines say 8 to 10 km totally and avoid couplings?

what should be the fixing arrangements at bends for fully welded piping? what are its limitations?

If ceramic lined bends are used what will be the effect on their life?

Is there any special couplings which can take care of thermal expansion for say 1 km pipe?
