Hazardous Area Classification

Does anybody know of a minimum quanitity of powder/dust required before one employs hazardous area classification (ATEX) rather than Good Safety Practices.

This relates to our dispensing of 2.5 kg quantities in an isolator (glove-box) and difficulties in getting appropriately rated scales to the accuracy required.

Though it may be possible to source scales, I am more interested in the wider question of when to emply hazardous area classification for such small quantities

The minimum amount of powder is given by its LEL. The first question to be answered is: "- Is the powder explosive?"

The second one is: "- The LEL has the possibility to be achieved in that particular process?"
