Transport compressor tripping frequently on high discharge temperature.

Please kindly assist on what could be done,my transport compressor (aerzen) always tripping at high discharge temperature whenever the TPH is icrease above 62.please what could be wrong with our conveying system.

Dear amusaolatunde

I assume that the compressor, which you refer to, is used in a pneumatic conveying installation.

Furthermore, I assume that you are using an oil free, positive displacement compressor (whether a Roots type blower or a screw compressor with internal compression).

The outlet pressure of a compressor is determined by:

1)Inlet temperature.

2)Compression principle.

3)Outlet pressure

4)Internal compression ratio (screw compressor)

5)Volumetric efficiency

The compressor technical data are given on the compressors nameplate.

(If you can supply those, together with the operating conditions, a better evaluation is possible)

Possible causes of a too high outlet temperature tripping are:

-Too high inlet temperature

-Too low volumetric efficiency, caused by internal leakage due to too much internal wear or too low rpm.

-Wrong outlet temperature setting.

-Malfunction thermometer switch

-Too high operating pressure in combination with a too high set spring loaded safety valve.

(Too high pressure can be caused by overfeeding the pneumatic conveying system or some kind of malfunctioning of the pneumatic conveying system)

Is the problem manifesting itself from the day one or is it emerging after a (long) period of satisfactorily operation?

With more actual information we can probably assist you more specific.

Have a nice day

Dear amusaolatunde,

I just found your reply on this thread. I missed it due to the delay in posting and publishing in the forum and that we do not receive an e-mail when a reply is posted in which you joined.

Permissible working temperature -10/250degree

Is this meaning:

Ambient temperature -10 degrC

Outlet temperature 250 degrC

Permissible working pressure 4.2bar

As far as I am informed, an Aerzen oil free screw compressor has a maximum working pressure of 3.5 bar(o). Can you give the compressor type? VM** and rpm.

Operating parameter setting

Discharge temperature--------- 215degree

OK

Discharge pressure ------------ 2.5bar

OK

Oil temperature---------------100degree

OK

Oil pressure-------------------1.8bar

OK

More installation information is required to judge the problem.

Material, pipe routing, operational data pressure, capacity, air volume, altitude, etc.

Have a nice day
