Dust Collection from Two Mixers

We have two mixers which do batch mixing. We introduce various milk powders to the mix along with a large amount of liquid fat. We spray liquid fat up to 21% of the batch size through automizing nozzles. The sprayed fat then passed by a nitro ring which has liquid nitro crystallizing the fat on contact. The process has about 28000 CFM and the air flow vents through two large stacks going up to a drag conveyor then outside the building.

We loose a fair bit of product batch by batch that we would like to reclaim.

having a dust collector that would allow this finished powder to either go back into the mixer or capture and reuse batch by batch would be ideal. The dust collector would have to allow the vented gas that forms out of the building. product is very cold and some what tacky which would be a problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

thanks in advance.

Adding Dust Collection

Our plant has two mixers which mix a blend of mostly milk powders. We also introduce up to 20% liquid fat which is sprayed into the mixer through atomizing nozzles. The atomized fat then passes by circular nitro rings which spray liquid nitro causing the fat to crystallize. The venting of the mixers of the now nitro gas goes through a stack up to outside the building. We loose a fair bit of powder that has zero value once expelled. There is about 28,000 CFM of air movement.

If we were able to use a dust collector to capture the powder then expel the clean air we would then be able to reintroduce the powder to the batch or use at another time bleeding into products. ince the powder is heavy and tacky this may be a problem.

We are looking for a solution.

thanks

Milk Powder Anyone?

Your issue is the cooling which must be deficient. Understandable though this is you will not have much fun filtering sticky fat. Even if you managed to filter it there would be plenty of sticky debris to remove from the bag house.

A scrubber might do a better job.

What was a drag conveyor doing in the first place?

The drag conveyor takes the product and moves it to the outside of the building where it builds up and is thrown out. To capture it when running would be the ideal situation as it then can be bled into the products.
