K-Tron Feeders - Overview
K-Tron feeders provide high-accuracy feeding solutions to handle a wide range of ingredients - from chocolate chips to fiberglass and from floodable powders to waxy liquids.
The K-Tron product line includes volumetric feeders, loss-in-weight feeders, weigh belt feeders and mass flowmeters for bulk solids and related controls for continuous or batch processes. These feeders are used in the plastics, chemical, detergent, food, pharmaceutical and other industries.
Feeding by Volume
Every Feeder Starts as a Volumetric Feeder
In principle, volumetric feeding is the simplest, most economical feeding solution available. Bulk material is held in a hopper and constantly fed into a process per unit of time. A gravimetric feed rate may be inferred through a calibration process where a timed sample is taken and weighed, and screw speed adjusted accordingly. Although there is no weight feedback to assure feeding accuracy over time, this may not be a concern for materials with consistent bulk density.

Gravimetric Feeders Offer a Window into Your Process
In gravimetric feeding, dry bulk material or liquid is fed into a process at a constant weight per unit of time since weight is a variable that can be captured by a weighing module. Consistent control and complete monitoring are possible. In principle, gravimetric feeding combines monitoring of the feeding process with a feedback loop that enables accurate material control. The new K-Tron Bulk Solids Pump (BSP) feeders have been specifically designed and engineered to provide gentle, precise feeding of free-flowing pellets, granules, flakes, powders and friable products.
The BSP feeders do not use the usual screws/augers, belts or vibratory trays to convey the material. They utilize positive displacement action to feed free flowing materials with astounding accuracy, offering uniform discharge, consistent volume and gentle handling.
The BSP feeders have vertical rotating discs that create a product lock-up zone, conveying the material smoothly from storage hopper to discharge outlet, achieving true linear mass flow.

K-Tron Pneumatic Conveying Solutions

The P-Series receivers offer sanitary design for either dilute or dense phase vacuum conveying applications and can handle powders and other difficult materials at rates up to 4000 kg/hr (8800lb/hr). Applications include simple `up and in` systems to custom central conveying projects.
The K-Tron Premier equipment includes Aerolock® rotary valve, Series II 2400 vacuum receiver, blower package and diverter valve product lines as well as engineered systems for rail car and truck unloading, as well as for its storage-to-production-line transfer systems which are used in the plastics, compounding, food and chemical industries.

K-Tron To Introduce New Version of the Premier Pneumatics vacuum receiver, model 2410
(Niederlenz/Switzerland July 4, 2008) - The K-Tron Process Group will show the Premier Pneumatics 2410 powder & pellet receiver with a new series 4 controller at Powtech in Hall 7, Booth 366. The 2410 is designed to handle powder, pellet, regrind or granular materials in the chemical, food and plastics industries. The 2410 receiver is available in either aluminum or stainless steel construction.
Actiflow is the latest K-Tron invention and will be introduced to the European market at Powtech. Actiflow reliably prevents bridge building of cohesive bulk materials in stainless steel hoppers. For the majority of difficult flowing materials, Actiflow will make common arch breakers obsolete when used in "loss in weight" (gravimetric) feeding applications. It is completely maintenance free and has no product contact.
The K-Tron booth will feature the new multiple feeder/single line operator interface for the KCM. K-Vision, as the new feeder operator interface is called, will feature multi-language support, including Chinese, and a selectable quad screen feature.
K-Tron will also exhibit the enhanced MT12 Micro Feeder, designed for processors requiring feed rates as low as 20 grams/hour. The recent enhancements incorporated in the latest design include a new inverted negative cone hopper design to aid material flow, a redesigned bottom agitator to reduce residual material, a new sanitary scale design that includes complete internal cabling and a more robust frame.
Other equipment models on display will include a KT20 pharma feeder as well as a a pharma version of the Premier Pneumatics vacuum receiver P30.

K-Tron mit neuem Premier Pneumatics Vakuumabscheider
(Niederlenz/Schweiz, 4. Juli 2008)— K-Tron zeigt während der Powtech 2008 in Nürnberg (Halle 7, Stand 366) einen Premier Pneumatics Vakuumabscheider vom Typ 2410 zusammen mit der neuen Steuerung vom Typ 4. Der 2410 fördert Pulver, Pellets sowie vermahlene und granulöse Materialen. Finish und Design entsprechen den Anforderungen der Chemie-, Lebensmittel- und Kunststoffindustrie. Der Abscheider vom Typ 2410 wird in Aluminium- oder Edelstahlausführung angeboten.
Der Actiflow ist die neueste K-Tron Erfindung und wird dem europäischen Markt zum ersten Mal an der Powtech vorgestellt. Der Actiflow wurde entwickelt, um Brückenbildung von schwer fliessenden Materialien in üblichen Trichtern aus rostfreiem Stahl zuverlässig zu verhindern. Bei der Mehrheit von schwer fliessenden Schüttgütern wird Actiflow bei der gravimetrischen Dosierung herkömmliche Vertikalrührwerke ersetzen. Das Gerät hat keine Berührung zum Schüttgut und ist völlig wartungsfrei.
Ein weiterer Höhepunkt am K-Tron Stand ist eine neue Bedieneinheit für das KCM: K-Vision, welches gleichzeitig bis zu 16 Einheiten innerhalb einer Linie regelt und mehrere Sprachen (u.a. Chinesisch) unterstützt.
Mit dem Mikrodosierer, Modell MT12 können Schüttgüter in einem Dosierleistungsbereich bereits ab 20 gr/h mit hoher Genauigkeit dosiert werden. Die spezielle Konstruktion erlaubt eine nahezu vollständige Entleerung des Trichters. Das einfache Zerlegen des Gerätes spart Zeit bei der Reinigung.
Weitere Attraktionen am K-Tron Stand sind ein KT20 Pharmadosierer sowie im Bereich Fördertechnik das Pharma-Modell P30 der P-Serie.
