Re: Capacity Calculation Of Stacker/Reclaimer

The stacking capacity can be found from the capacity of the inbye system & funnily enough the reclaim capacity can be found by calculating the capacity of the outbye system.

If you are asking how to design a particular machine then the work involves specifying the system & compiling a design document which typically involves 300 drawings & 12 packed volumes of specifications & calculations. Such a scope of work is rather large to fit in a reply to such a vague thread.

Someone else trying to design something based on the free knowledge of others.

If you can't design it, employ someone who can and learn from them.

Stacker Cum Reclaimer

Posted on 23. Oct. 2009 - 05:37

Stacker cum reclaimer machines are sometimes used for stacking production from the processing plant and delivering production to to next storage (viz to a barge or ship, The loading operation is not continuous)

The main line belt runs continuously (either feeding stacker belt or accepting material from the reclaiming operation). Load out is faster as production and reclaimer output go together. The main line belt has to rated to accept production + reclaimer output.

The stockpile capacity, reclaimer capacity are designed to match load-out schedules and requirements

I want to know the approximate cost difference of reclaimer with boom length of 35 Meters and 45 meter and capacity 5500 T/Hr and the weight difference of these machines.

Dear Mr. Umarye,

Weight will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. So this cannot be figured out. But I can give you some idea of cost difference. It would be about Rs. 2.00 Crs.

Dear Shri Tejas,

There is no calculation for stacking capacity. It will be the same as the inflow rate of stock yard conveyor. Whatever material comes by the stockyard conveyor has to be dumped on stockyard because there is no room for accumulation of material in the machine.

As for calculation of reclaiming capacity, its calculation for peak capacity is very simple. Bucket scoop volume x density x number of discharge per hour, converted in mtph. However, the difficult point is how to take the bucket volume, its positioning and bucket wheel rpm, etc. to create a workable machine. This demands specific design knowledge of the machine as a whole.

The reclaiming activity, does not proceed at steady rate. It fluctuates with reference to the boom position near stockyard and when it is at higher slew angle from the stockyard. The calculation of this is also not so difficult, but deciding the slewing speed, travel speed, operational mode etc. demands specific knowledge about the machine.

If you happen to be the buyer of such machine, machine supplier routinely give the calculation of reclaiming rate as a part of contract. Needless to mention that they do not describe how they are fixing the various values because these are proprietary knowledge.
