Idler - Seal Drag Value
Dear Experts,
Can u please throw some light on this?

Idler Seal Drag
The support idlers resist rotation and belt movement by a combination of mechanisms internal to the idler roll and influenced by various elements of their design. The rotating resistance is a torsional moment which is overcome at the belt line as tangential force acting on a moment arm equal to the roll radius.
When seal drag is found to be an important element of belt tension as in overland or downhill conveyors, the actual performance values are much preferred over the defaults. The idler rotating resistance varies over it’s lifetime from high torque during break-in when it is new to easy rolling during it’s prime operation to high resistance if the bearing or seal begins to fail.
Hope, this provides the required briefing.
PM me if you would like to know the Idler Seal Friction Calculation. ■
Seal Drag Calculation
CAn any body please inform me the value of Kis factor for calculating the Idler friction for CEMA F series idler as in CEMA book Kis value is given for B, C, D, E series only.
Thanks ■
