International Mineral Processing Symposia ( IMPS ) are organized in Turkey every two years at a different venue. The Eleventh (IMPS-2008) will be held in Papillon Zeugma Hotel ( http://www.papillon.com.tr ) on October 21-23, 2008 in Belek ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belek ) - Antalya, Turkey and hosted by the Middle East Technical University ( http://www.metu.edu.tr ) Mining Engineering Department.
The symposium aims to gather scientists, engineers, business people, public and private decision makers of the mineral industries from all over the world together in a relaxing environment to exchange ideas, introduce new techniques, technologies and products. Turkey, with a vibrant and steadily growing economy in the last few years coupled with the rising global demand for mineral commodities and liberalization of the mining law, has become an important mining area. Many new and expansion mining projects are on the agenda. Thus, IMPS-2008 is more than ever very important.
In recent years, Belek has been one of the rising stars of the Turkish tourism. This coastal area is not only famous for its pine forests, crystal clear seas and sandy beaches but also very close to Hellenic-Roman cities of Perga and Side, the famous Aspendos amfi theatre and the magnificent Manavgat water falls. Papillon Zeugma Hotel is one of the newest and best congress hotels of the area. ■
