The organisation
Foundation
UWT GmbH was originally founded as a family enterprise by Peter and Gerda Schropp in Kempten, Germany. The company began in the family cellar and already here, the aim was to provide good quality products. No one could then foresee that this small family business would grow into a world leader in the production of level measurement instrumentation.
Development
Through consistent quality, reliability and a holistic customer orientation, UWT has achieved an excellent name with planners, producers and operators of plants and machines in numerous branches.
The increasing international direction of UWT ensures that its good reputation continues to grow in other countries. The arrival of Uwe Niekrawietz, as second director, alongside founder Peter Schropp accelerated the successful entry into new markets in all continents of the globe. The increasing market share ensures a constant company growth and subsequent staff growth. An extra production plant in Malta and sales subsidiaries in the growth area Asia, in the United States and in Great Britain mean that we can meet our customer’s requirements with even more flexibility.
In order to maintain product quality, the production facilities and office areas are constantly growing to accommodate the necessary place requirements. The solid trust of our customers worldwide means that UWT GmbH continues to grow solidly.
Basic principles
A solid organisation philosophy is central to our management decisions. High product quality is a must and is documented in our QM systems. UWT is ISO 9001:2000 (DQS/IQNet) certified and is continually increasing its product certification such as Atex, FM, CSA, especially with regard to the international market. A motivated, dedicated and future orientated team are ready to competently answer your questions related to level measurement instrumentation.

Building, cement and quarry sector
The level measurement instrumentation in this branch is often required to work in harsh, dusty and noisy conditions. Regardless of whether the instrumentation is required for mobile plastering machines, heavy vibrating mixing plants, volume dosing batch vessels, stone crushing plants, conveyor belts, cement storage silos or sludge interface measurement in collection reservoirs,
Chemical sector
This sector demands the highest requirements for measurement instrumentation with respect to measurement sensitivity, resistance to aggressive mediums, approvals for explosive environments, to name but a few. The instrumentation is required to provide everything that modern measurement technology can offer.
Food sector
Applications in this sector require the highest standard of hygiene. It is essential that instrumentation parts that come into product contact must be made from material suitable for food purposes. Fields of application include, but are not limited to, measurement in vessels containing flour, sugar, salt or chocolate to measurement in loading telescopes in flour mills and starch factories.
Animal feed sector
Level measurement instrumentation in this sector is exposed to high temperature, humidity, steam and aggressive mediums. Despite the difficult conditions, total reliability is an absolute must.
Environmental and recycling sector
This sector has very high requirements of its measurement sensors. The, to some extent, harsh operating conditions require robust instrumentation. Special measurement requirements can be solved with a custom made solution.
Power sector
Contents measurement in this sector usually operates under high temperatures or in very dusty conditions. We can also provide custom made requirements for reactors and temperatures of over 600°C.
Synthetics sector
The contents measurement instrumentation in this sector is used in a wide variety of applications. Whether measurement is required in storage, conveying and processing, or the production of plastic granulates and powders, a reliable and accurate measurement is necessary no matter what.
Wood sector
Reliability and longevity are expected in this industry sector, despite dust, humidity, and caking of saw dust and wood chips. Our many years of experience in this branch have been incorporated into product development.
