“New” Quantum® Series Orifice Gate
The Vortex Quantum Series Orifice Gate valve offers significant advantages over traditional knife gates and butterfly valves.
Hard polymer seals
Other gate valves, knife gates, slide gates, and butterfly valves rely on soft rubber seals that erode away or tear when handling dry bulk material. The Vortex Orifice Gate valve eliminates these problems by using “live loaded,” hard polymer seals.
Material wedging
Knife gates and butterfly valves with round end blades commonly allow wedging of dry material – preventing positive air and material shut off. The blade jams and packs material against the seals, quickly abrading the seals. The patented design of the Orifice Gate valve clears material away from the sealing areas to allow positive gate valve closure and minimal seal wear.
Valve cleanliness
Other knife gates contain retention ledges and areas where materials can become trapped. This creates spoilage of material and blade actuation problems. The Vortex Orifice Gate valve is a full-ported valve, with no ledges.
Material flow
Butterfly valves utilize a disc that reduces the material flow area. Certain material has a tendency to pack and bridge around the disc. The Vortex Orifice Gate valve offers unrestricted material flow for enhanced system performance.
Many choices
Vortex slide gate valves offer customers a choice of sizes, mounting options, actuators, and materials of construction. These choices help create the proper valve for the right application.
“New” HDP® Slide Gate
The Vortex HDP slide gate contains a patent pending, self-adjusting blade and clevis. This feature allows the blade to slide horizontally, then rise vertically into the closed / sealed position. Seal contact and associated seal wear is greatly minimized. Wedging and packing of material into a valve seat is eliminated.
Self-adjusting bonnet seal retainer
As with the blade and clevis, the bonnet seal retainer mirrors the perpendicular movement of the blade. The cartridge style retainer is “live loaded” and readily accessible by removing the rear bonnet cover. Seals may be replaced without taking the gate out of service.
Resilient main seal
The main seal is wider and thicker than o-ring seals found in traditional knife gates. The seal is constructed of a food grade, wear resisting urethane compound that compensates for wear and mechanical abrasion. It performs well in abrasive and non abrasive applications.
Tombstone blade design
The blade is unique in function and appearance. The tombstone shape allows for valve self-cleaning as well as superior sealing of material to the bonnet.
Wye Line Diverter: 2-way, 3-way, or 4-way
The Vortex 2-way Wye Line Diverter offers positive sealing in both vacuum and pressure conveying systems. The scissor material shearing action allows the valve to be reliably diverted on a stream of material when required. The Wye Line is bi-directional and may be used as a diverter or a converger.
Seal material
Use of durable seal material make the Wye Line Diverter an excellent choice for high cycle applications
Unobstructed orifice
The Wye Line Diverter offers an unrestricted flow of materials through the valve. This results in improved air conveying system performance and a cleaner operation.
Metal contact
Wye Line Diverters are available in a choice of material contact metals: aluminum, carbon steel, 304 and 316L stainless steel.
Abrasive material
Applications for abrasive material can be handled with special seals and / or hardened, reinforced weldments.
Seal Tite Gravity Diverter: 2-way or 3-way
The Vortex Seal Tite Gravity Diverter valve solves many of the material handling problems found with traditional flapper diverters.
Design engineered
State-of-the-art manufacturing techniques (including TIG welding for reduced heat distortion and lasered parts for closer tolerances) allow the Vortex Seal Tite Gravity Diverter to address leakage problems found in traditional flapper diverters:
A removable access door allows internal inspection or maintenance of the valve without having to take it out of place.
The unique flow design channels the flow of material away from the leading edge of the blade.
The vane and vane seal are easily accessible and, if needed, easily replacable.
A special shaft seal minimizes product leakage (and potential material spoilage) beneath the vane shaft.
An optional clean-in-place panel allows for quicker access to the interior of the valve for inspection, cleaning or maintenance purposes.
Flextube Diverter: 2-way or 3-way
Iris Valve: Infinite Position or Quick Lock
The Vortex Iris Valve offers a reliable valve to control the gravity discharge of free-flowing dry bulk material from bins, bulk bags, chutes and hoppers. A form-fitted, fabric sleeve provides a dust tight seal and a product barrier so material does not leak to atmosphere or come in contact with the valve’s actuating parts. Excellent valve for handling delicate or “friable” products.
Stainless control ring, metal locks and handles Eliminates durability concerns of plastic control rings, plastic trigger locks and plastic handles
Precision machined
Ensures that valve components actuate smoothly and flange connections match and seal properly.

Patent-pending Quantum Series Wye Line Diverters, by Vortex® Valves North America – a division of Salina Vortex Corp. – are engineered to handle dry bulk solids in dilute phase pneumatic conveying systems with vacuum or positive pressures up to 15 PSIG (1 bar).
